I don't have any Strongman shows until September. I qualified for nationals, in Utah. But Colleen is due with our 3 girl on the same weekend in Sept. as nationals... so I'm not even sure I'll be going to that. But if I do go and WIN (like I have a tendency to do) then I'll be able to call myslef a Professional Strongman (that's cool as hell!)

Well, I AM training for somthing that is right around the corner that is not stronman realted.

My buddy Ryan and I have a bet on who will be the first to do the 54" box jump in out gym. So besides staying strong for nats, I've been getting explosive to win this bet.

Here's what I did yesterday:

Box Jumps
44" x 3
50'' x 3
55" "Step Starts" x 3 (so, with a step, I can get up on the box... a few more weeks and I'll do that poop from a standing start, I always win!)

Barbell Alt. Lunges
225 x 8
245 x 8
275 x 8

Slead Drag
2 plates "to subway and back" (about a 1/4 mile) took me about 3:30 mins.

One of my HS baseball players and his dad stopped by and we spoke about gettting stronger for college.

Good job bro. So what's on the line for the bet? You're not betting the gym are you?! I'll have to check out your site more so can I learn what all these exercises are.

Triple Jumps x 5

Power Clean From the Floor
185 x 5
225 x 5
275 x 3
275 x 3

a. Band Push Ups (Blue Band)
12
12
12

b. Rear Delt Raise, head on bench
35 x 12
35 x 12
35 x 12

Prowler Sprints 140lbs.
40 yards, Low handles down, high handles back x 6

I've been pretty disgusted with my conditioning. Last weekend I went to a Strength Training seminar in Ohio that was put on my elitefts.com. There was a "Prowler Challenge" where by the contestant would push the prowler 40 yards x 4 with no rest and the fastest completion time would win a prowler to take home. These things cost about $300 plus $100 shipping, so I wanted that thing bad! Well, I lost. So now I'm running myself into the ground with this thing for the next few weeks. (also, Ive been getting kinda fat, so this will help me shed some blubber)

Tomorrow is Strongman training at Tom Mitchell's crib.

Did you try any of thse weird exercises we filmed the other day?

Curious....what's the most you've ever done for a 1 rep max in the Power Clean?

Mike, No weird exercises except for the ones that I do with my Benegalese massage therapist.

My 1 rep clean is probably about 350lbs. Guesstimate.

Was supposed to train at Tom's for Strongman, but training was cancelled. So, I packed up the girls and went to my moms house for an early mothers day. Took mama to dinner at Macaroni Grill, had the pork chops... mmmm!

5/11/08

Dragged my home made tire slead in my back yard for conditioning.
about 50 yards x 8

Monday's a new week. Get STRONG!

This weekend I met some old football buddies in NYC, I took a 3 hour flight to have dinner and then go home (FL) the next morning.

You'd imagine that I have a great time but as it turns out my trip sucked!

My daughter had been puking all week with some stomach virus (I brag that my kids dont get sick, bullshit!).

Well, after my first bite of a juicy, rare rib-eye stake.... I began puking like my 2 year old. (I brag that I dont get sick, bullshit!) Apparently it is not a good idea to kiss a sick kid on the lips and chin especially when she drools like a sleeping drunk.

So, long story short. I feel like crap today and have decided to use this as an excuse to "de-load" (not lift heavy). My idea of deloading is to just drop my max effort exercise and cut the volume of my jumping, conditioning and bodybuilding.

5/19/08

1. Bench Press w 80lbs of chains.
135 x 10
185 x 10
185 x 8

2. Inc. DB Bench
90s x 10
80s x 10
80s x 10

3a. Bend Over Rows
185 x 8
185 x 8
185 x 8

3b. Rear Delt DB Raise
35 x 10
35 x 10
35 x 10

Still in my "De-loading" week.

I haven't yet a clue about what events I need to train for come Nationals (Sept. 13 Provo, Utah).
So, I'm just messing around with several different versions Pushing, Pulling, Dead lifting, Squatting and
Conditioning. Today was an experiment gone WILD!

1. Corrective Stretches & Foam Roller

2. Snatch Grip Dead Lift standing on 4" block
225 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 5

3. Light "Farmers Sprints" to Subway and Back* x 4

*My gym at the end of a dead end, at the front end of the dead end there was a Subway sandwich shop (which relocated recently, just like most businesses runnin from da hood). When you hear someone tell you to do something "To Subway And Back" you know you are in some deep poop. The trip is about 100 yards, one way. So, needless to say... I was pretty screwed for about 40 minutes after sprinting to Subway and Back with 135pound in each hand!!!
