Fasting and Weight Loss

Losing pounds does not have to be a torture to you. Fasting is one of the tactics followed by certain people as a diet in their weight control plan. Fasting is simple to integrate into your day-to-day routine. When you fast, your body is forced to dip into its energy stores, in order to get the fuel it needs to keep moving. This burns calories and will result in a healthy weight loss.

Fasting hashistorically been a means to express political opinions and a form of protest. On the spiritual front, some people perform fasting to achieve worldly wisdom. Most religions use periods of fasting as a means of demonstrating faith or penitence, and an opportunity for spiritual reflection. There is some physical evidence that food deficiency can lead to anincreased state of awareness, possibly leading to enlightenment.

Fasting might also improve longevity by delaying the onset of age-related diseases including heart disease and diabetes. Most doctors recommend a twelve hour fast before taking a lipid profile. This is also the standard procedure before surgery, since it is a known fact that anesthesia and food do not go well with each other. Fasting can have a beneficial effect on other aspects of your health. Some fasting diets claim that they can cleanse the body of impurities. However, there is no evidence that fasting detoxifies your body, or that your body even needs to be detoxified.

Intermittent fasting is a method used by plenty of people each year in an attempt to lose weight. These are short-term fasts and they normally last from 24 to 36 hours. This will create a caloric deficit, thereby increasing the burning of body fat and bringing about faster weight loss. Many who use intermittent fasting to control their weight do so using a condensed eating window. This type of fasting is simple and can be adapted to most individual needs.

Today's teen generation at times involves themselves in extreme fasting. This is normally due to peer pressure and campaigns for size zero. Extreme fasting can lead to food disorderslike bulimia and anorexia. Therefore, it is better for the teens to do fasting under the supervision of a physician. Some people do extreme fasting in order to supplement the excess intake of food. This is not a correct approach. Exposing the body to such extremities can damage the metabolism and lead to weight gain and other disorders.

Fasting can be a sustainable and significant piece of a weight loss plan. Fasting to lose weight is one of the more debated methods of weight loss. Nevertheless, if done correctly, this can produce fabulous results. The fasting weight loss options are vast and there are quite a few different ways of going about it.
