The Holiday Calorie Trap

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed and that usually means getting together with family and friends that we often do not get to spend time with throughout the course of the year.

It also means . . . INDULGENCE!  Yes, the holidays bring out everyone’s BEST in seasonal treats and gourmet delights and who DOESN’T want to  enjoy all those things?!?!?

However, too many times we get caught up in telling ourselves how “bad” it all is for us and how “we just can’t do that anymore” or worse yet, denying ourselves just till everyone else is asleep and then sneaking into the kitchen to BINGE . . . yeah, like not any one of us has ever done that before!

But what if it was possible to not only allow yourself to enjoy some of your old time favorites this holiday season, while also doing something else that helped to support your best health?  Sounds too good to be true?  Well it’s not . . . keep reading . . .

The truth is that our body is brilliant at doing what it needs to balance, detox, absorb and flush what it does and what it does not need.  However, sometimes the body gets bogged down a bit in all of this due to a massive onslaught of “here come the goodies!!!”

Indulge (Without the Guilt)

When we hit our system with that full on frontal assault of all those things that taste good that we only get during special occasions, we often OVER do it and that usually ends up with us not feeling all that well, feeling bloated and sometimes a lot of time spent in the bathroom instead of in celebration with our family.

To be honest it’s not just a holiday favorite, I just happen to incorporate this a lot more during the holidays because I do tend to find myself “dipping” into sweets and treats more frequently than any other time of the year.

I’m not saying, nor am I suggesting this is to be abused as far as “stuff yourself with everything that’s unhealthy and it will cancel out every bad food decision you make.”

Not quite what I’m getting at here.

However, adding this to your diet will help support what your body already does on its own by supporting it during a season of eating where it can become overwhelmed with a lot of stuff that it is not used to and end up causing you some digestive discomfort.

 Christmas Coffee Detox Latte Recipe

So . . . you’re tired of reading and you want the answer already?!  Here you go . . .

* Organic Dandelion tea
* Hot water
* Coconut oil
* Almond or Coconut milk
* Liquid Stevia to taste

Please adjust this recipe to suit your taste . . . but here is how we like it:
1.  Brew cup of dandelion tea to your preferred strength
2.  Add approx 4 oz tbsp of almond or coconut milk
3. Add 1/2 tsp coconut oil.
4. Add 4-6 drops of liquid stevia.
5. Blend just till frothy and decadent

Ta-Da . . . a delicious and decadent Christmas Detox Latte to support your body’s natural detoxification process and keep your liver happy & healthy! Enjoy!
