Fannie Josefina Barrios was born in Caracas, Venezuela on May 30th, 1966. Competitively, she was a Venezuelan champion in 1997 and 1998. She was the winner of a contest called the 'Absolute Center of the Americas' in San Salvador in 1998 - an event that qualified her to turn pro in the IFBB. She made her pro debut at the IFBB Jan Tana Classic in 1999. The Jan Tana event was one of her favorite contests and she experienced her best placing as a pro winning the middleweight class at the 2001 Jan Tana Classic.
Fannie loved the competitive side of bodybuilding and entered many contests as a pro competing in the Show of Strength, the Ms. International, the Women's Extravaganza, and the Ms. Olympia, as well as the Jan Tana Classic. Barrios competed in three successive Ms. Olympia events placing eighth in 2001, third in 2002 (her best Ms. Olympia finish), and sixth in 2003, all as a lightweight.
Her final competition was the recent 2005 New York Pro Championships on May 21, 2005 where she finished third. Fannie moved to Florida in 2000 to concentrate her efforts as a pro bodybuilder and work as personal trainer in the South Beach/Miami area.
