IFBB Professional, Sophie Duquette, is one of female bodybuilding's freshest and most personable athletes. Sophie's interest in bodybuilding began in Sherbrooke Quebec at the age of 16 where she began training casually as a social outlet. At 17 when Sophie entered and placed 2nd in her first bodybuilding show she new she was hooked. By 21 Sophie had taken podiums at every show she entered and had won 1st place Miss Quebec de L'Est adding to her confidence and belief that she could meet the challenges that lay ahead.
At 23 years old Sophie's career took an important step forward when bodybuilding trainer and soon to be boyfriend Robert Joubert recognized her talent and dedicated his time and resources to the cultivation of her vast potential. Together they forged a pact that would lead them to the Canadian Championships where in 1999 the culmination of Sophie's perseverance and hard work earned her the distinguished honor of becoming Canada's first woman from Quebec to be awarded the overall victory at a Canadian championships since 1987, the year in which the CBBF first began selecting an overall champion.
Sophie now concentrates on her career more than ever, her excellent rankings in all recent appearances demonstrates her desire to bring her fans and supporters all the way to the top while always being a role model for young athletes interested in bodybuilding, femininity and healthy living.
Sophie's itinerary since entering the pro ranks has been phenomenal by any standards, it is exceptionally rare for an athlete to make it to the Olympia stage in under 14 months of pro competition but the grueling 5 contests in 14 months that Sophie will have undertaken by her maiden Olympia appearance is a further testament to her dedication and desire to excel as a premier bodybuilder.
