Interview With Bodybuilder Tim Wescott

Tim Wescott CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

My name is Tim Wescott. I first touched a weight in 1969 and knew nothing about training so I wasted a lot of time following marathon routines in the magazines.I weighed 98 pounds!!

I missed 11 years of training due to alcoholism and drug abuse but after starting back in 1993 I have amassed 46 trophies in powerlifting and bodybuilding and have placed twice in my class at the NPC Masters Nationals.

WHAT DOES YOUR DIET CONSIST OF?

Pre-contest I eat the usual diet fare:

Egg whites
ckicken breasts
tuna
fish
lean beef
oatmeal
yams
potatoes
brown rice
veggies/salads

In the off-season it`s the same things although I include dairy,fruits,and breads with much more beef and lots of pasta!!

IF YOU WERE AT THE ARNOLD CLASSIC, WHO WOULD BE THE ONE PERSON YOU WOULD HOPE TO RUN INTO, WHY?

Arnold would be the one I would love to talk to for obvious reasons as I met him in 1974 as a kid and was too intimidated to talk about anything and just stared in awe.

Tim Wescott WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE FOR THE BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED BODYBUILDER?

Beginner: Be patient and consistent!!

Intermediate: Set goals and be determined to reach and surpass them!

Advanced: Be meticulous in your training,eating,and posing as there are so many competitors who may be training and prepping far harder than you are,although you think you are spot-on!!

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME A BODYBUILDER?

I was always a small frail kid and there were two national level bodybuilders who lived in my area.Once I saw them at the local YMCA,that was all the impetus I needed to start my journey for a superior physique!

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE BODYBUILDING MOMENT?

Placing in the masters nationals and winning my class in the Southern States contest for the first time when everyone said I couldn`t do it after years of not training and abusing my body with booze and drugs.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE YOU SEE BEGINNERS MAKE?

Training too heavy and sloppy in an effort to impress people instead of using appropriate poundages that target the intended musclegroup.

WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHAMPION AND AVERAGE JOE?

A champion has a will of iron and does not let adversity stop him from reaching his goals as the average joe is content to being just that......average Average is easy just look around and see how many average or below average people abound.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISES?

Anything for legs and shoulders.

WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE ON STEROIDS/SUPPLEMENTS?

Don`t fall into the hype.Use tried and true supplements that work and if you are going to use steroids think about it long and hard and do all the research necessary before you start.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE BODYBUILDING MOMENT?

Being in the movie Pumping Iron in an audience scene,and coming back after 33 years of drinking to realize my dreams of competing and winning!

HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF BODYBUILDING?

I see it hopefully changing from the size at any cost route to a more sensible approach rewarding proportion and aesthetics.....hopefully.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE CHANGE IN THE MUSCLE WORLD?

More exposure for amatuer bodybuilders.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE SAY?
